This postpartum dizziness and headaches is a thing that I will say happens for me. Since all three of my pregnancies, I had a lot of postpartum migraine headaches, and also postpartum brain fog. Since both of my moms are in their 50’s, it really got me thinking about the three levels of self-awareness. The first, of course, is the level of awareness we have of where we are in life.
This is the level of self-awareness that you have of where you are within the time you’ve been alive. Your mind is still able to create the world around you. It is your mind that is making you do stuff, so we could say that your level of self-awareness is the level of your mind. Your brain is still making you do what you do, so your level of self-awareness is the level of your mind.
What’s the best way to put this? For instance, you can look at the video from the first Deathloop trailer and ask yourself, “Why was it that the scene at Blackreef was a scene? Why was it that the scene at Blackreef was a scene?” We are all pretty surprised that we are able to do this.
When we look at a video from a Deathloop trailer, we think, “Oh. Ok. So that’s how they’ve been planning this.” It’s not that we are unaware of the fact that we are on autopilot. We are just less aware of ourselves.
The first problem we have, is one of self awareness. We are not aware of ourselves. We think we are, but it is the reverse. When we think we are on autopilot, we are not. For instance, I was sitting in front of my computer on the couch, and I thought about it for about five minutes. I have a tendency to spend too much time at my computer. I was not thinking about the fact that I was sitting on a sofa.
This is a problem we have more often than you might think. We are not aware of ourselves at all. The problem is we tend to forget our autopilot state. We are going about our day in the most unconscious manner.
I would like to offer up a little advice. When you are on autopilot, your whole life (or just our entire life) seems to be happening at once. You can get lost in a conversation you have just started with someone who has just gotten off the phone with someone else. Suddenly, you can hear a conversation going on just two doors down the hall. You can hear another conversation going on just two doors down the hall.
It’s only like that because we aren’t even aware that we’re on autopilot. We might be on autopilot for 30 seconds, but then we realize that we’re not on autopilot.
It happens to us all the time. We have to remember to take breaks. But when we take our breaks in front of the computer, we are not on autopilot. We are not aware of what we are doing.
It happens to us all the time, but it’s the most common, most frustrating, most annoying symptom of postpartum depression. I’ve been there, and I’m still there. It’s so hard to explain. But when you’re not on autopilot, it’s like you’re having a conversation with an alien.
