Fennel, like kale, is a good source of D -Asp but, unlike kale, fennel contains only one of the two amino acids that the body needs. Glutamic, on the other hand, is found in all types of food. This is why the body can tolerate high amounts of fennel and the D -Asp in the plant, but can’t tolerate much Glutamic.
The body can tolerate Glutamic, but not D -Asp. It is because the body does not know what Glutamic is, and thus cannot make the proper proteins that it needs to function properly. This is why people can become very sick when they eat too much of the plant. The body can make Glutamic and D -Asp, but not both at the same time.
