As a former pharmacist and pharmacist/doctor I can tell you that the majority of your medication is NOT prescribed by a doctor or pharmacist. In fact, many of your prescriptions are actually a direct result of a medication refill by the pharmacy.
Pharmacy prescriptions are the most common source of errors and drug-related accidents. Even worse, they are often the first step in causing drug-related hospitalizations. Pharmacy refills can also result in the loss of your medication if there is a mistake.
I’ve heard the phrase “medication errors” used to describe the types of mistakes doctors and pharmacists make. I’ve also heard the phrase “medication refills” used to describe the number of times a drug is refilled at a pharmacy. This is a very bad way to talk about prescription refills, since they do absolutely nothing to help prevent medication errors. And in my experience, these types of mistakes are not a one-off event.
While I can’t prove this for sure, my suspicion is that most of the time, someone is filling a prescription for something they already know they need, because they have to fill something they know they need. They then refills it and then it’s on the shelf for months. I’ve heard of several cases where a pharmacy filled the wrong prescription, and the drugs were never refilled.
I think the problem is that many people dont see the problem because they have a prescription-to-go (or to use) system that tells them what they need to take, and they don’t realize or care that a mistake was made. This is one thing that our drugstore has been working on for a while now, and its going to be a big change for pharmacy customers.
For pharmacy customers, this will be a big change as well. The pharmacy of the future will be able to get a list of what your prescriptions need to be filled, and will know exactly what you need in your home pharmacy, which means that when your doctor needs to do a refill, the pharmacy won’t need to take a minute to pick up the prescription and be at the pharmacy by the time the doctor gets his way.
A pharmacist will be able to see all of this information at any time, so your doctor will be able to see all of this information at any time. The pharmacy will also be able to deliver prescription drugs directly to your home without having to go through a pharmacist or a doctor.
The key word is “recharge”. You don’t want to have to go to the doctor twice a year for your prescription. In fact, you don’t want to have to go to the doctor at all. You want your doctor to know exactly when you need that prescription renewed. The pharmacy and doctor are both able to see exactly the same information about your prescription, so there is no “hidden” costs to your doctor.
And that same idea applies to herbal remedies. You dont want to be making your doctor waste his time and money with generic drugs and then having to go to your doctor every time you need to take a prescription you bought at the store. In fact, your doctor should be able to see exactly when you need to take a prescription you bought at the store. Your doctor should be able to see exactly when you need to fill your prescription.
