This apple cider vinegar is my go-to remedy for diverticulitis. I take my wife and a friend to a great apple orchard where they get to taste the fresh apples and buy cider to make their own home brew. I then make it myself and add spices to it, and it’s so good.
Although the exact contents of the apple cider vinegar make no sense, my wife and I feel better about our diverticulitis just the same. We’ve tried a lot of different home-made remedies and this one seems to be the very best.
Apple cider vinegar is great for pain, diarrhea, and cold sores and is a great source of vitamin C, so I like to think of it as a sort of “cure-all” that works for everything. The problem is that the actual apple cider vinegar in the recipe only has 6% or fewer of the amount of vitamin C in our home brew that we want to make.
A quick search on the internet tells me that 3-4 cups of apple cider vinegar is about 100 to 150 mgs of vitamin C. That means that you need to use about 4 cups of that vinegar to make one cup of apple cider vinegar. I know this is a lot, but that’s still a lot. So let’s just assume for a moment that you can eat a whole apple and that you use all the apple cider vinegar in the recipe.
That’s about 3 cups of apple cider vinegar. The amount of vitamin C you need in a single serving of apple cider vinegar is in the range of 10 to 30 mgs. Not only that, but you also have to take in some calcium, too, so you need to take in about a third of the vitamin C and you also have to consume a couple of cups of sugar. That’s around 15 to 30 mgs of vitamin C and calcium.
Duh. You know what that means? You probably won’t feel any difference in your bowels after you drink the apple cider vinegar.
Of course, the health benefits are pretty minimal, but it’s good to know that there might be reasons to drink it. What you might not want to know is that the vitamin C in apple cider vinegar is actually a good source of vitamin C, too. If you are taking in too much vitamin C, you may have to take in more sugar in order to get your calcium levels up.
I can’t say I’d recommend the apple cider vinegar, but I’ve found that it does work as a diuretic. As a general rule, you want to drink less of it.
For the rest of you who dont eat a lot of fruits and veggies, apple cider vinegar is a great substitute. The reason is that it is usually made from the fermented juice of apples. In addition, apple cider vinegar is very acidic. You should drink plenty of it, and use it in your beverages.
